February 27, 2017: New Features for version 5.0

Scratch Pad

  • QWS3270 now supports a scratch pad for capturing text for later use from the emulator screen.
  • More information can be found here: Scratch Pad

Screen History

  • QWS3270 now supports capturing of screen history, with the ability to go back and review past screens without affecting the current session.
  • The Screen History tool can be found under the Tools menu. 

Disabling SSL/TLS Options (Secure only)

SSL and TLS options can now be disabled through hidden Session Parameters.

  • DisableSSLv2=1 // disables the option to use SSLv2
  • DisableSSLv3=1 // disables the option to use SSLv3
  • DisableTLSv1=1 // disables the option to use TLSv1

Enhanced Certificate Chooser (Secure only)

  • When choosing a Certificate on the Security section of the Session Options dialog, you will now be presented with an Windows OS specific certificate chooser. This provideds more information making it easier to choose from multiple similar certificates.

Bug-fix

  • The New Session Wizard will now use the Default Session port number when setting up a new connection.
  • In previous versions, the Session Dialog had an issue with selecting “N” as a HILLAPI Session ID. This has been corrected.

Scripting

  • Added the %systemdate% variable to allow for injecting the current system date into scripts. Also allows for custom formatting of dates.
  • Scripts are not halted if a user clicks Cancel on a security prompt when using %mainframepassword% or %mainframeuserid% variables in a script.

Bug-fix

  • Allow a HLLAPI Session ID of “N” to be selected on the Connection Options Dialog.  Previously when choosing “N” the dropdown would revert back to “None”.

January 3, 2013: New Features for version 4.8

Program Interface
  • The images for the toolbar and menu item icons have been updated to more modern images.
  • Added the ability to use large (32 x 32 pixel) images for the toolbar buttons in addition to the previously available small (16 x 16 pixel) images and medium (24 x 24 pixel) images.  The default is to use the medium sized images.

Security

  • Changed the way hidden fields are recorded in keystroke recordings to prevent a security problem when keystroke recordings are converted to script files.
  • Added support for TLS version 1.1 and TLS version 1.2 to the security protocols. The most recent version that is supported by both the client and server will be selected.  This applies to QWS3270 Secure only.

Scripting

  • Added a new script command to allow variables to be shared between scripts.
  • Added a system variable to provide access to the "Application Data" folder within a script.
Usability
  • Added option under the Edit menu that will find text on the current screen.

  • Installs cleanly and reliably.
  • Eliminates unnecessary reboots.
  • Ensures compatibility with Windows 7, both 32-bit and 64-bit editions.


March 9, 2011: New Features for version 4.7

Program Interface
  • Added the ability to change a session tab title temporarily. Simply right click the tab and choose the Rename Tab... option.
  • Visual feedback for screen selection size in status bar. The size of the selected area is displayed as rows and columns when in block mode or the number of characters when in line mode.

Security

  • The script variable "Mainframe password" is now stored in encrypted form in memory.
Usability
  • Enhanced support for vector graphics (advanced and native). Use the Advanced protocol when you have GDDM Version 2 Release 3 or higher.                 .
  • Enhanced support for programmed symbols. We now provide support for triple-plane programmed symbols.
  • Added support for SYLK clipboard format for easier pasting of screen data into spreadsheet applications.
  • Added the ability to re-map character keys. Now you can re-map the Shift + 6 key to be the logical not sign as found of true 3270 terminals.
  • Added Hotspot recognition for SFTP and FTPS links.
  • Enhanced support for IPv6 addressing.
