A hotspot is clickable screen text that is linked to a user-defined action.  The default way to execute a hotspot is by double-clicking with the left mouse button on a hotspot. This can be changed in the Mouse Options dialog.

QWS3270 Secure comes with a number of default hotspots such as PFxx, Fxx, Enter and Clear.  These hotspots execute the actions for which they are named. For example, executing a PF2 hotspot would send the PF2 key to the host.  You can change the actions that the default hotspots execute as well as create your own custom hotspots.

To modify the hotspot settings, use the Options/Session menu and click on the Hotspot item in the options dialog.

The Hotspot Options

Display Hotspots - Hotspots will function even if they are not visible on the screen.  You can make hotspots visible (displayed as a 3D button) by selecting the 'Display Hotspots' check box.

Case Sensitive - Hotspots are by default case insensitive. This means that 'pf4' is the same as 'PF4' or 'Pf4'.  If you want the program to distinguish between them, check the 'Case Sensitive' option.

Display URLs as Hotspots - By default, URLs displayed on the screen are shown and recognized as hotspots.  If you don't want URLs to show as hotspots, uncheck the 'Display URLs as Hotspots' box.

Adding a new hotspot - Click on the 'Add' button to create a new hotspot.  Define the hotspot text (must be unique) and then select the action you want to associate with the hotspot.

Edit a hotspot - Select the hotspot to edit in the list and click on the 'Edit' button.

Delete a hotspot - Select the hotspot you want to delete and click the 'Delete' button.  The hotspot will be removed from the list.

Restore defaults - You can restore the default hotspots by clicking on the 'Defaults' button.  All custom hotspots you added will be removed and all actions for the default hotspots will be restored to their defaults.
