Creating a session to define a connection to a host is very simple, but at the very least you will need one piece of information: the host name or the IP address of the host that this session will connect to.  If you do not have this information, please contact your mainframe administrator or support personal.  Once you obtain this information, you are ready to begin.

To create a basic session, click on the ‘Connect’ button on the toolbar or use the ‘Connect’ option on the QWS3270 menu. Select ‘New…’ in the next dialog and type in a name for your new session. This name is for your own reference only and will not have any influence on the session properties. The name for any session must be unique.

Once you provided a name and clicked OK, you are taken to the Host Settings properties page.  From here will see a list of available options displayed as icons on the left and corresponding options dialogs on the right (see What is a session).
