When Not to Use It

Although some DDE functionality is included in our product, Jolly Giant Software recommends the use of the HLLAPI interface or the COM Automation interfaces instead. These interfaces are much more robust with a set of well-defined standards.

The primary use for DDE is between Microsoft applications, and not between PCs and IBM hosts. WinHLLAPI has been designed for this purpose and is more robust with far more command functionality than DDE.
