What is HLLAPI?

HLLAPI (High Level Language Application Program Interface) is an industry standard interface that allows a PC application and an IBM mainframe to share data via a 3270 terminal emulation program.  Typically, HLLAPI applications are used to present users with a "friendlier" view of host screens and to automate routine functions such as file transfers.

Windows HLLAPI defines a standard and consistent API for the 32-bit versions of the Microsoft Windows graphical environment. It includes both familiar IBM EHLLAPI-style routines and a set of Windows-specific extensions, which are designed to allow the programmer to take advantage of the message-driven nature of the Windows graphical environment.  This API has been designed to provide a standard to which application developers can program and network software vendors can conform. These API details provide documentation for application software developers and a specification for network software vendors.

The QWS3270 Secure application is considered to be "Windows HLLAPI Compliant" because it supports 100% of the Windows HLLAPI specification (WinHLLAPI) as defined in the Windows HLLAPI Version 1.1 Specification, allowing you to control your 3270 sessions from a remote application.
