What_are_Session_IDs?

It is possible to have multiple instances of QWS3270 running and connected to different hosts. To connect to an instance of the application using QWS3270 Automation you need a method to identify the instances. This is done with 'Session IDs'. Each instance of QWS3270 can be assigned a session ID. Session IDs must be unique. This session ID is assigned to sessions in the QWS3270 application.

To specify or view the session ID for any session, connect the session to a host and select the Options/Session menu item. On the Host Settings tab of the dialog you will see a drop-down box labeled 'HLLAPI Session Short Name'. You can choose any of 26 single character values for this short name. We use this same value as the session ID for QWS3270 Automation (session IDs and HLLAPI session short names are synonymous).
