The Server Options dialog allows the selection of general options that effect the application as a whole. These options are valid for all queues. To set options for a specific queue, select the queue to change and choose ‘Edit Queue’ from the Queue menu, or double-click on the queue name to edit. Default options for the server port and source ports of the originating print requests have been set according to the RFC 1179 (Line Printer Daemon Protocol), but can be modified. If the LPR application supports it, setting the source port range to a different range than the default can be an added security measure. LPD will only accept print requests that originate from source ports in the specified RFC or custom range.
